Congratulations NASA on your 50 years of Towering Achievement.
Last week I was reading about how Buzz Aldrin felt that science fiction was sort of responsible for the lack of eagerness in young people toward pushing the program in the direction of feasible space exploration.
Now, as just on Friday I was at a seminar that briefly discussed the science of cloaking devices (within the context of negative refraction and field-effect modulation in plasmon slot waveguides), I'm guessing Aldrin just isn't hanging around with the cool kids. Hahaha. Or maybe he IS hanging around the cool kids. I also saw "Apollo 13" 3 times the first 2 days it was out. Whatever, it's cool.
Anyhow, hopefully this will give space science the "Colbert Bump":

UPDATE: AUGUST 1, 2008--
This aired last night, but was online by the time I got home in the morning. Buzz obviously hangs out with the cool kids, but I mean that in the "space science is obviously cool" way. He's got the gleam in his eye that reminds me of every super boss who has been genuinely and exceptionally enthusiastic about what they research, which I think is the hallmark of people who are truly successful. If any of the above sounded snarky, I take it back. However, I reiterate S.C. potentially giving space science the Colbert Bump. I really do admire them all, more profoundly than I can articulate.
